Stanhope 10 Miler, Stanhope, County Durham
The Stanhope 10 Miler is a non-profit, plastic free road and trail event held in the Durham dales on Sunday 23rd August 2026. The event raises funds and awareness for local charities; all money raised goes directly to the nominated charity, Quinn's Retreat (Registered Charity Number 1187899), which offers a retreat for those bereaved by suicide.
The course is a single 10 mile route with an undulating profile and a mix of surfaces: about 90% road and 10% grass or trail. Runners leave Stanhope, climb the section known as Killing Me Softly Bank towards Bollihope reaching approximately 1,300 ft, pass Hill End, then return through Stanhope to finish at Stanhope Show field. Race HQ is in the agricultural shed at Stanhope Showfield. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs and operates without a race licence.
Facilities include water stations, distance markers, toilets and baggage storage; there are no changing facilities or showers. The route is signposted with quarterly mile markers and marshals, first aid trained personnel and sweepers will be in place. Participants must register at event HQ to receive numbers and should bring their own drinking vessel as cups are not provided at stations. Entry is limited to 150 places; entries for runner and walker categories are listed at £24 each. This is an open road event and participants take part at their own risk.
