The Stanhope 10 Miler is a non profit, plastic free running event in Stanhope, County Durham. It supports Quinn’s Retreat (Registered Charity Number 1187899) and all money raised goes directly to the chosen charity. Entry is priced at £24 for both runners and walkers; entry on the day is not available. The event has an entry limit of 150 places and is not suitable for wheelchairs.
The course covers 10 miles as a single undulating lap with mixed surfaces. Approximately 90% of the route is on road and 10% is on grass or trail. The route leaves Stanhope with a steep ascent up (Killing Me) Softly Bank towards Bollihope, reaches a height of about 1300 ft, continues via Hill End and returns through Stanhope to finish at Stanhope Showfield. The profile is described as undulating and the event is multi terrain.
Race HQ is the Stanhope Showfield agricultural shed. The event is signposted with quarter mile markers and marshals are placed on the route. Facilities listed include water stations, distance markers, toilets and baggage storage; there are no changing facilities or showers. Participants must bring a drinking vessel as no bottles or cups will be provided at water stations. First aid trained personnel and sweepers will be present.
