Stanhope 10 Miler 2026
The Stanhope 10 Miler is a non profit, plastic free road and trail event held in Stanhope, County Durham on 23 August 2026. The event supports local charities; this year the nominated beneficiary is Quinn’s Retreat (Registered Charity Number - 1187899), which offers a retreat for people bereaved by suicide. All money raised goes directly to the charity.
The course covers 10 miles in a single lap with an undulating profile. About 90% of the route is on road and about 10% is on grass or trail. Runners leave Stanhope and climb the steep section known as Killing Me Softly Bank towards Bollihope, reaching approximately 1300 ft, then pass Hill End before returning through Stanhope to finish at Stanhope Showfield.
Race HQ is at the Stanhope Showfield agricultural shed. All participants register at event HQ and are allocated numbers there. Facilities listed by the organiser include water points, distance markers placed at quarter mile intervals, toilets and baggage storage; there are no changing facilities or showers. Participants must bring a drinking vessel as no bottles or cups will be provided at water stations unless arrangements change due to health measures. Marshals, sweepers and first aid trained personnel will be present. The event has an entry limit of 150 places and is not suitable for wheelchairs. The race takes place on open public roads and participants take part at their own risk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
