BOFRA - Murder Mile

The event is an uphill road race held on Brunthwaite Lane in Silsden, listed for Thursday 2 July 2026. The course covers 1 mile with approximately 485 ft of ascent, starting by the bridge at the bottom of Brunthwaite Lane and finishing where the road meets Light Bank Lane.

The route winds uphill along Brunthwaite Lane with little flat running until a final bend brings the finish into view at Light Bank Lane. The event regularly attracts several hundred runners who take on the sustained climb.

Registration and parking are in a field on the right just before the bridge; a grassy track between the houses leads to the village green and a snicket from the field leads to the start line. Participants assemble on the village green before the start. Runners are asked to allow faster competitors to move to the front and slower competitors to keep to the back when moving to the start line.

Age categories include U9, U12, U14, U17 and Seniors. Minimum age is 6 unaccompanied, or 5 if accompanied by an adult. Entry fees are Juniors £2 and Seniors £5. Parking is charged at £3. Prizes are awarded to the first three men and ladies, first veteran men and women in each 10 year veteran category from 40 to 70, first U21 male and female, and first three boys and girls in each junior category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
