Murder Mile
The Murder Mile is an uphill road race held in Silsden on Thursday 2nd July 2026. The course is 1 mile long with an elevation gain of 485 ft. It starts by the bridge at the bottom of Brunthwaite Lane and follows Brunthwaite Lane uphill until turning a corner where the finish is visible at the junction with Light Bank Lane. The course provides sustained uphill running with little flat sections.
Registration and parking are located in a different field this year, on the right just before the bridge. A grassy track between houses leads from the parking field to the village green, and a short snicket then connects the field to the start line. Competitors are asked to assemble and wait on the village green before the race and to let faster runners move to the front when requested, with slower runners keeping to the back.
Age categories include U9, U12, U14, U17 and Seniors. Minimum age is 6 unaccompanied, or 5 if accompanied by an adult. Entry costs listed are Juniors £2 and Seniors £5; parking is charged at £3. Prize awards cover first three men and first three ladies, first vet male and female in each 40, 50, 60 and 70 categories, first U21 male and female, and first three boys and girls in each junior age group. Recorded course best times are 6.24 for men (2014) and 8.03 for ladies (2019). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
