St Sunday Sky Race

The St Sunday Sky Race is a mountain running event located in Patterdale, within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The course covers a distance of 29 km and features a total ascent of 2050 m. It is designed as a classic distance skyrunning event that traverses the central and eastern fells of the Lake District, specifically crossing over St Sunday Crag and the surrounding peaks.

Participants follow a fully marked course consisting of technical mountain trails. The route incorporates sections of previous courses but excludes extreme ridge elements such as Striding and Swirral Edges, positioning it as an entry-level skyrunning event.

The event provides the following services and amenities:

  • 29 km with 2050 m of vertical gain.
  • One fully-supplied feed station and five manned checkpoints.
  • Electronic timing and GPRS tracking provided by Open Tracking.
  • Professional safety management and a supporting safety team.
  • Post-race vegan and gluten-free soup for participants.

Registration is open to individuals aged 18 or older. The event is organized by Lake District Sky Trails and emphasizes technical trail skill on hard mountain terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
