St Sunday Sky Race
The St Sunday Sky Race is a mountain skyrunning event in Patterdale over St Sunday Crag and the surrounding eastern fells. The course covers 29 km with approximately 2050 m of ascent and uses parts of the old Lakes Sky Ultra route with additional sections added.
The route is fully marked and described as technical, with steep ascents, rocky and technical descents, and mountain trails that require attention and route skill. The event is positioned as an entry-level sky-type race and as a stepping stone to longer sky races.
Entries include a single fully supplied feed station and eight manned checkpoints along the course. Electronic timing and tracking are provided through Open Tracking, and the race carries ITRA/UTMB ranking points. Entries also include a post-race vegan meal and a finishers’ Wild Flower Seed Medal intended to be planted. A professional Safety Officer and supporting safety team are part of the event delivery.
The race is organised and delivered by an experienced team and takes place on trails within the central and eastern fells of the Lake District. The location lies within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The organisers note that the course removes ultra and extreme elements from longer events while retaining technical mountain terrain.
