About the race
The St Sunday Sky Race takes place on 18 July 2026 in Patterdale, within the Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site. The event follows a technical mountain course of 29 km with 2050 m of ascent over St Sunday Crag and surrounding Eastern Fells. The route uses parts of the old Lakes Sky Ultra combined with new sections that remove the ultra and extreme elements.
The course is fully marked and includes one fully supplied feed station plus five manned checkpoints. Electronic timing and a GPRS tracker are provided by Open Tracking. A professional Safety Officer and a supporting safety team are supplied by Mountain Run. Post-race soup is provided with vegan and gluten free options alongside a salty option.
Minimum age to enter is 18 on the event date. Entry fee is listed at £120. Entries opened on 4 October 2025 and close on 5 July 2026; the entry list recorded 44 participants at the time of publication. The event is organised by Lake District Sky Trails and is presented as a classic distance Sky Race, intended as an entry level sky event that exposes runners to skyrunning terrain in the English Lake District.
