Kendal Mountain Festival Trail Runs, 21 November 2026
The Kendal Mountain Trail Runs take place alongside the Kendal Mountain Festival and include multiple trail distances around Kendal and its surrounding fells. Routes mix tarmac, fells, fields and cobbled streets and pass local landmarks and geological features such as limestone escarpments, castles, a deer park and river trails. Courses include natural obstacles, ascents and hard-packed and grassy sections.
Distances and elevation:
- Adidas TERREX Kendal Mountain 10km Trail Run : 11.8 km, elevation +267 m
- The North Face Kendal Mountain 25km Trail Run (new for 2026) : 25.7 km, elevation +438 m
- The North Face Kendal Mountain 50km Ultra Run : 50.1 km, elevation +1069 m
Routes start on closed roads in Kendal town centre and finish into the Kendal Mountain Festival Basecamp where spectators gather. The event provides a fully marked course, chip timing with online results, event photography, a bag drop area and food and drink available. GPS tracking is provided on the 50 km route. Organisers ask participants to bring a reusable cup or bottle to refill.
Mandatory kit lists are specified. Runners on the 10 km should carry a waterproof jacket, 500 ml water, hat or buff, reusable cup and a GPX file of the route. Runners on the 25 km and 50 km should also bring waterproof trousers or leggings, an extra long sleeve base layer, a mobile phone, about 800 Calories of food, at least 1 litre of water, a self-adhesive bandage, a foil blanket, gloves and a head torch with spare batteries.
