Race details
The course is approximately 10 km with about 250 m of ascent and combines trail and road surfaces including tarmac, grass, gravel and cobbles. The route leaves the town centre climbing Beast Banks, follows the limestone escarpment of Scout Scar with views towards Morecambe Bay and the Lyth Valley, crosses Underbarrow Road, passes Cunswick Scar and Kendal golf course, and finishes back in the town centre via steep, narrow cobbled paths and steps. The event is fully waymarked and marshalled, includes RFID digital timing, baggage storage, and a water station at about 6 km. Roads are mostly open to traffic; runners must keep left on roads and obey marshals and police where present. Dogs are not permitted on the route. Prize categories include overall top three men and women and veterans by five-year categories. Registration takes place at Abbot Hall Social Centre where runners collect their race number.
