Kendal Mountain Festival Trail Runs
The Kendal Mountain Trail Runs take place on Saturday, 21st November 2026 as part of the Kendal Mountain Festival. The event programme includes three measured trail routes of different lengths that run around Kendal and the surrounding fells.
- 11.8 km, elevation +267 m
- 25.7 km, elevation +438 m
- 50.1 km, elevation +1069 m
Courses mix trail and town sections. Routes include tarmac, fells, fields and cobbled streets, with limestone escarpments, river trails, a deer park and nearby castles visible from parts of the routes. The terrain features natural obstacles, ascents, hard-packed and grassy sections, and undulating trails. Races start on closed roads in Kendal town centre and finish inside the Festival area, with spectators present at the finish.
Event services listed for all distances include a fully marked course, official timing, online results, event photography, food and drink, and a bag drop area. GPS tracking is provided on the 50.1 km race. Organisers request participants bring a reusable cup or bottle for refills.
Mandatory kit guidance is given. Recommended items for the shortest route include a waterproof jacket, 500 ml water, a hat or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX file of the route. Additional items for the 25.7 km and 50.1 km races include waterproof trousers, extra layers, a mobile phone, 800 calories of food, at least 1 litre of water, a bandage, a foil blanket, gloves and a head torch with spare batteries. Discounted entries are not available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
