St. Matthews Independence Day 5k Run/Walk 2026
St. Matthews Independence Day 5k Run/Walk 2026 is presented by Independence Bank and takes place on July 4, 2026 at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Ave, Louisville, KY 40207. The event is part of the River City Races Run the 502 series.

The event uses a closed course through St. Matthews neighborhoods and offers chip timing with online results. Entry includes a choice of unisex short sleeve tech shirt or women's tech tank, a race goodie bag with packet pickup, free race photos, on-site parking, post race food and vendor booths, awards and door prize drawings. A finisher medal for all finishers is new for 2026.
Awards are given to the top three male and female overall, top Master and Grandmaster, and top three male and female in the following age groups: 9 & Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over. Team Challenge divisions are open to three to five person teams scored by the fastest three.
Race proceeds directly benefit St. Matthews Area Ministries and support St. Matthews Baptist Church's "Love 40207" community efforts, which include community garden work, visits to shut ins, home repairs for the elderly, care packages for frontline workers, resources for local cyclists, blanket making, park clean up, and school beautification.
Registration is limited to the first 700 registrants. Pre race packet pickup and late registration are scheduled for Friday, July 3 at Independence Bank, 3901 Shelbyville Rd, where those picking up packets during noon to 2 pm will receive a free lunch.
