St. Matthews Independence Day 5k Run/Walk 2026
St. Matthews Independence Day 5k Run/Walk is presented by Independence Bank and takes place on July 4, 2026 at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Ave, Louisville, KY 40207. The event is part of the River City Races Run the 502 series; completing six events in the series earns a Run the 502 finisher medal with charms for each race.
The event is limited to the first 700 registrants and has sold out in recent years. Walkers are welcome. Entry benefits St. MAM and supports St. Matthews Baptist Church’s annual Love 40207 community campaign.

- 5k (in person)
- Virtual 5k with shipped shirt, bib and medal if time is uploaded
- Little Patriot Fun Run 6 and under: 1776 inches (49 yards)
- Little Patriot Fun Run ages 7-9: 250 feet (84 yards)
Race features listed for entrants include a finisher medal for all, a closed course through St. Matthews neighborhoods, a choice of unisex short sleeve tech shirt or women’s tech tank, chip timing with online results, on-site parking, free race photos, a race goodie bag with packet pickup, post race food and vendor booths, and door prize drawings. Awards are given to top overall male and female finishers, Master and Grandmaster categories, and the top three in multiple age groups. A Team Challenge is open to teams of three to five and is free to enter.
