St. Matthews Independence Day 5k Run/Walk 2026
The St. Matthews Independence Day 5K is a timed run and walk held on July 4, beginning and ending at St. Matthews Baptist Church at 3515 Grandview Avenue in Louisville, KY. Presented by Independence Bank, the event follows a closed course through St. Matthews neighborhoods and is part of the River City Races Run the 502 series.
Entry benefits include a finisher medal for all finishers, a choice of a unisex short sleeve tech shirt or a women's tech tank, chip timing with online results, on-site parking, free race photos, a race goodie bag with packet pickup, post-race food and vendor booths, and door prize drawings. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall, Master and Grandmaster categories, and top three in standard age groups from 9 and under through 80 and over.

A Team Challenge is open to three to five person teams, with the fastest three scored; Coed teams must include at least one woman. Pre-race packet pickup occurs on July 2 at Independence Bank; late pickup is available on race day at St. Matthews Baptist Church. The race is limited to the first 700 registrants.
