St. Matthews Independence Day 5k Run/Walk 2026
The St. Matthews Independence Day 5K is a neighborhood 5 kilometer run and walk that begins and ends at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Avenue, Louisville, KY. The event is presented by Independence Bank and is part of the River City Races Run the 502 series.
Key event features include chip timing with online results, a closed course through St. Matthews neighborhoods, on-site parking, free race photos, a race goodie bag with packet pickup, post-race food and vendor booths, and a finisher medal for all finishers. Participants may choose a unisex short sleeve tech shirt or a women’s tech tank. Race registration is limited to the first 700 entrants. Walkers are welcome.

- Little Patriot Fun Run for children: 6 and under 1776 inches (49 yards); ages 7-9 250 feet (84 yards)

Awards include top three male and female overall, Master and Grandmaster categories, and top three in multiple age groups from 9 and under through 80 and over. The Team Challenge is free and scores the fastest three of 3 to 5 person teams in male, female, and coed divisions. Pre-race packet pickup and late registration are held at Independence Bank with a free lunch for those who pick up early, and late pickup occurs at the church.
