St Joseph 5K and Fun Run
The St Joseph 5K and Fun Run is a community-focused athletic event located in Frederick, Maryland. Organized by St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church, the proceeds from the event support the restoration of the historic church and the local food pantry. The event includes two primary distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
Participants in the 5K are timed via chipped bibs. Prize medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers across various age brackets. For the 1 Mile Fun Run, participants aged 13 and under receive a commemorative ribbon. The event also features the Ministry Miles Challenge, which encourages parish groups to form teams and compete for recognition and prizes based on participant numbers.
The race environment is family-friendly, and strollers are permitted. Individuals using strollers are requested to line up at the rear of the starting area, and those running with strollers must use specific jogging or running models. For the safety of participants, pets are not allowed at the event.
In addition to the registration fees, the event serves as a food drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods or dry food items to donate to the on-site food pantry. Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at the historic church or on the morning of the event near the main church parking area.
