SSW Running Club Club Challenge

The SSW Running Club Club Challenge is an annual event hosted by the Homewood Flossmoor Community Running Club. Now in its fourth year, this competition invites athletic clubs from across the Chicagoland area to participate. The event takes place on a Wednesday evening at Yankee Woods in Tinley Park, with the course utilizing the local trail system.

Participants can compete as unattached runners or as part of a three person team. Teams are organized into several divisions, including all male, all female, and co-ed groups. These divisions are further categorized by age or status, specifically high school, open, and masters levels. To determine the winners in each team division, the finish times of all three team members are aggregated.

The race focuses on a single distance:

  • 3.1 Miles (5k)

The event includes an awards ceremony held at a local venue in Oak Forest following the completion of the race. Recognition is provided for the top three overall individual finishers. Additionally, awards are distributed to the top three participants in various age categories, ranging from 14 and under to 70 and older. Participants are eligible to receive a complimentary appetizer during the post-race gathering. The start and finish lines are located near the intersection of 166th and Central Avenue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
