Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Sumner Esplanade 10 km & Kids 2.5 km
This is a series of community road races held along the Sumner Esplanade in Christchurch. The series comprises three events in June, July and August, each run on the Esplanade walkway and organised by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team.
Distances
- 10 km (ages 14 and over) complete four laps of the 2.5 km course
- Kids 2.5 km (ages under 14) complete one lap; parents or caregivers may accompany children at no extra charge
The registration area and start/finish are at the Sumner Scarborough Clock Tower, 147 Esplanade, Sumner. The course is a flat 2.5 km out and back along the Esplanade walkway. Parking is available along the Esplanade and the walkway remains open to the public during the events. Pushchairs and buggies are permitted.
There is one aid station supplying water and a Pure electrolyte drink. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each event. Online entries are available up to the Friday before each event and on the day entries are accepted for an additional cash fee. Those entering all three races may receive a 10% series discount if entry is completed before the closing date of the first event. A vegetarian post race breakfast is provided free to participants; supporters may purchase breakfast for $10. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
