Colour Zone Run - Christchurch
Colour Zone Run is a non-competitive festival-style event held on Ardrossan Street in Avondale, Christchurch. The event is organised as a 5 km run, walk or crawl with multiple colour zones placed along the course. At each colour zone participants are covered in coloured powder that is thrown, blasted and blown across the route; organisers note there are colours from the rainbow plus additional shades.
The route starts and finishes on the old Ardrossan Street in the Red Zone area off Avondale Road and passes beside the Avon River through a garden like, tree-lined park setting. The open park environment is used to host the colour stations, and colour effects come from various angles during the course.
The event is presented as family oriented and includes opportunities to purchase additional colour packs for a larger personal experience. Wave starts and briefings are used to manage runs in groups. Event information mentions packet pickup at the Ardrossan Street headquarters on the day and a short event briefing before each wave.
The focus is on a colourful, social experience rather than competition, with participants encouraged to wear plain clothing that will show the applied colours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
