About the race
Colour Zone Run is a non-competitive festival event taking place in Avondale, Christchurch on Ardrossan Street. The event is a 5 km run, walk or crawl with multiple colour zones along the course. Participants pass through a series of stations where coloured powder is thrown, blasted and dispersed from different angles, so runners are repeatedly covered in colour. The course starts and finishes on the old Ardrossan Street in the Red Zone area off Avondale Road and follows a route beside the Avon River through an open park and garden-like setting with tree cover.
The event is organised in waves to manage flow through the colour zones. Event packs are available for pickup at the event headquarters. The organiser notes that additional colour can be purchased on the day. The event page lists two fundraising organisations associated with the run: Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand Trust and Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust, each showing progress toward specified fundraising goals. Attendees are advised to wear white or black clothing to show the colours.
