Boulder Bay Classic : 10km Trail Run
The Boulder Bay Classic is a 10km off-road trail run held at Taylors Mistake, Christchurch. The event is organised by Christchurch Avon Athletic Club and is scheduled for Sunday, 8 November 2026.
The course starts on the beach and follows the Godley Head track, a well formed gravel pathway with gates, wooden boardwalks and steps. Runners pass Boulder Bay, historic huts and gun emplacements, climb to the top of Godley Head, cross a grassed farm track and then rejoin the Godley Head pathway to return to the start/finish area. Parts of the route traverse farm paddocks and four wheel drive tracks where surfaces can be uneven, rutted, or contain rocks and tussock. The organisers advise care on narrow coastal sections and across farmland. Wearing iPods or similar electronic gear is discouraged.
A separate children’s race, the Kid’s Dash, is for children under 13 and covers approximately 700 to 1200 m around the prize giving area; entries for this race include a race number and a medal. A timing clock will be positioned at the finish line. Race numbers are available for collection in advance from a local pickup point when requested by email. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
