Bristol Sri Chinmoy Races Summer Series
The Bristol Sri Chinmoy Races take place on weekday evenings each summer from May to July on the Sri Chinmoy Peace Mile in Eastville Park. The series comprises three individual races plus a relay, with junior races for younger runners.
The event programme includes the following distances:
- 2 miles with a 1 mile junior race
- 3 x 1 mile relay with free ice cream for each runner
The course is an accurately measured, undulating 1 mile pavement loop around the park perimeter and is shaded by trees for much of its length. It is used for summer evening racing and for speedwork. The relay has limited entries and is popularly known as the Ice Cream Relay.
Entry is available online via RunEvents, Findarace and Fabian4, by mailed entry form, or on the day for an additional fee. Entry fees vary by category and affiliation with reduced rates for club runners and juniors; a discounted price is offered for entry to the three-race series.
Awards include overall placings for men and women, age-category prizes for 50 plus, 60 plus and 70 plus, and junior category prizes. The series is held under UKA Rules. Series winners and club league results are announced at the end of the relay race.
Sustainability measures include encouragement to travel by foot, bike or public transport, bag storage and a bike rack at registration, EV charging in the park car park, reuse of cups for water, and a programme of oak tree planting to offset event carbon.
