The Drop - Bath

The Drop is a navigation challenge held from an event centre at The Huntsman, Bath, 1 Terrace Walk, North Parade, Bath, Somerset, BA1 1LJ. Participants are taken to an undisclosed location and must find their own way back on foot with no markers, directions, or external reassurance.

Distances offered:

• 10 miles: dropped 10 miles as the crow flies; return on foot.
• 15 miles: dropped 15 miles as the crow flies; longer distance and decision making.
• 6 miles: dropped 6 miles as the crow flies; open only to non locals.

At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag to carry for the duration. Deployment uses a blindfolded bus transfer; when blindfolds are removed the challenge begins and each participant navigates independently.

Rules include no GPS unless sealed inside the emergency bag, no unauthorised maps, on foot only, and disqualification if the emergency bag seal is broken. Distances are measured as the crow flies so actual travel will be longer. An optional live GPS tracking system is available for convenience and safety; trackers must be returned or a replacement fee will apply.
