Format and rules
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices and receive a race number and an emergency bag. Competitors board a bus, wear a blackout blindfold or an approved alternative, and are driven to an undisclosed drop-off location. From that point participants must find their way back to the event centre; distances are measured as the crow flies.
The event prohibits use of personal GPS and unauthorised maps. Any device that records progress must be sealed in the emergency bag; breaking the seal leads to disqualification. Live GPS trackers are optional and not included in the entry fee. Trackers are accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and black spots. All trackers must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply.
Location and transport
Parking is available in the town centre; organisers advise car sharing and note good rail and bus links. The nearest railway station is about a 10 minute walk from event HQ and the bus station is about 5 minutes away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
