Sri Chinmoy Princes Park Winter Running Festival
The Sri Chinmoy Princes Park Winter Running Festival takes place in Melbourne, with the staging venue located at Lawn 3 in Princes Park, Carlton. The event utilizes a flat, tree-lined 5km circuit within Princes and Royal Park. For the marathon and half marathon distances, additional loops at the start ensure the accuracy of the total distance. The course is traffic-free and has been measured by an AA certified course measurer.
The festival offers several distances to accommodate different participants:
- Marathon: This distance involves 8 laps of the main circuit plus a 2.2km half-lap at the start.
- 30km: Participants complete 6 laps of the 5km circuit.
- Half Marathon: This race consists of 4 laps plus a 1.1km add-on at the start.
- 10km: Runners complete 2 laps of the course.
- 5km: This distance involves a single lap of the circuit.
The event features chip timing provided by Tomato Timing, and distance markers are placed at every kilometer. Drink stations offering water and electrolyte are positioned every 2.5km along the course. Following the completion of the races, a pancake breakfast is provided for participants. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in age categories ranging from under 15 to over 80 years, with specific age restrictions applicable to the longer distances.
Parking is available along Royal Parade and in the streets on the eastern side of Princes Park. Registration remains open online until 15 minutes before the start of each event, as cash and credit card entries are not accepted on-site. All participants are required to complete the course by 12 noon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
