Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden 2 Mile Run
The Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden 2 Mile Run is an annual running and community event held on 10 October at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, New York. The event is inspired by Sri Chinmoy and serves as a tribute to Flushing Meadows Corona Park and the Heart-Garden dedicated in 2006.
The programme includes a 2 Mile race, children's fun runs (100 m and 800 m), and a Peace Run program for youth. A Heart-Garden ceremony follows the running activities and features a Peace Walk with a Peace Torch, torch bearer awards honoring distinguished guests, short inspirational remarks by invited guests, and distribution of small gifts and refreshments.
Entry to the 2 Mile race is free, with registration available only on race day. The event is organized and sponsored by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team and the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run.
Race-Day Central is located near Meadowlark Circle at the north end of Meadow Lake, close to the Unisphere. The closest subway access is Mets-Willets Point station on the number 7 line; the walk from that station to the race staging area is a little more than one mile. There is a large free parking lot adjacent to the staging area for those arriving by car. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
