About the race
The Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden 2-Mile Run is an annual event held in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens. This event is a tribute to the park and its founder, Sri Chinmoy, and is sponsored by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team and the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run. The race takes place near Meadowlark Circle at the north end of Meadow Lake, an area that includes a dedicated 800-meter loop known as Sri Chinmoy Street.
Available distances include:
- 2 Mile Run
- 100 m Children's Fun Run
- 800 m Children's Fun Run
The race is open for race-day registration only. Participants will navigate a course within the expansive Flushing Meadows Corona Park, which also serves as the home for the US Open and various ultra-running competitions.
Following the main event, the Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden Ceremony takes place. This includes a Peace Walk with a Peace Torch and the presentation of Torch-Bearer Awards to honored guests. The gathering also features inspirational speeches and refreshments for participants.
The staging area is accessible via public transportation, located approximately one mile from the Mets-Willets Point subway station on the number 7 line. For those driving, free parking is available in a large lot directly adjacent to the race staging area, accessible via the Long Island Expressway and College Point Boulevard.
