Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden 2-Mile Run
The Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden 2-Mile Run is an annual event held on 10 October in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, New York. The event is inspired by Sri Chinmoy and serves as a tribute to the Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden area of Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
The program centers on a 2-mile run/walk and includes children's fun runs, a Peace Run program for youth, and a Heart-Garden ceremony that features a peace walk with a peace torch, torch-bearer awards, short inspirational remarks, and refreshments. Organizers are the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team together with the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run.
The park location is near Meadowlark Circle at the north end of Meadow Lake. The closest subway station is Mets-Willets Point on the number 7 line, a little more than one mile from the race staging area. There is a large parking lot adjacent to the race staging area and free parking is available next to the staging area.
Background: an 800 m loop at Flushing Meadows Corona Park was dedicated as Sri Chinmoy Street and the Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden was dedicated on October 11, 2006, as a tribute connected to Sri Chinmoy’s work on fitness and integral health.
Entry to the race is free and registration is handled on race day only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
