Sri Chinmoy 5K and 7-Mile Race
The Sri Chinmoy 5K and 7-Mile in Prospect Park is an annual event held in Brooklyn, New York. The race features a scenic loop course through forest and meadow areas, traveling counter-clockwise on the pedestrian lane of the main Park Drive. The route begins at the north end of the Lincoln Road Lawns and passes several park landmarks, including Battle Pass, Nellie’s Lawn, Long Meadow, Lookout Hill, and Prospect Park Lake.
Participants can choose between two distances:
- 5 km
- 7 miles
The 5 km distance consists of slightly less than one complete loop of the park. The 7-mile race involves two full loops, with the second loop including a short out-and-back section on Center Drive. Both courses are USATF certified.
The event provides several amenities for participants, including aid stations at every mile, a bag check service, and free finisher photos. All finishers receive a medal. A distinctive feature of this race is the post-race pancake breakfast, where fresh pancakes are served with maple syrup and whipped cream.
Registration must be completed in advance as there is no race-day registration. The event is easily accessible by public transportation, located 100 meters from the Prospect Park subway station. Age restrictions apply, requiring participants to be at least 13 years old for the 5 km and 15 years old for the 7-mile race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
