Overview
The Squirrel Hill Loopy Loppet is a cross-country ski race held at Minocqua Winter Park in Minocqua, Wisconsin. It is described as a festive event to cap off the ski season.
Event Details
The event features four distinct races:
- Loopy Loppet 6k Skate
- Loopy Loppet 6k Classic
- Loopy Loppet 12k Skate
- Loopy Loppet 12k Classic
Participants choose between skate and classic skiing techniques and can ski one loop (6 km) or two loops (12 km). The course uses a selection of trails known to hold snow well late in the season: Base Loop, Tornado Alley, Survivor, and Nose Dive Alley. Wearing costumes is encouraged for all racers.
A special discounted team rate is available for organized elementary through high school teams.
Post-Race
Awards are given to the top three overall winners and the top three in each age group. All registrants receive a complimentary post-race meal and a drink, with beer and non-alcoholic beverages available. After the main event, a youth ski race called the Beat The Bunny 2k takes place for participants aged 12 and under. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
