Course overview
The Spurs Austin International Half uses a point to point route through Austin with a significant net downhill elevation over 13.1 miles. The course begins near Stonelake Boulevard and finishes near the Texas State Capitol at 14th and San Jacinto. A relay exchange is located just past mile 6.
The route is described mile by mile: miles 1 to 3 feature a gentle descent from Stonelake Boulevard, miles 4 to 6 continue the downhill trend through north Austin and along Shoal Creek, miles 7 to 9 pass tree-lined streets and local neighborhoods with an Energy Zone before mile 7, and miles 10 to 13.1 travel through the University of Texas area with a steady decline into the finish.
Aid stations are positioned along the course and provide water and lemon lime electrolyte hydration. The Energy Zone near mile 7 supplies gel options including Apple Cinnamon and Mixed Berry caffeinated flavors. Water is served using refill systems and recyclable cups with marked recycling bins on course.
Medical support from Ascension Seton is available at each aid station and basic first aid is provided. Multiple portable restrooms are placed at each aid station, with additional restrooms near miles 1 and 3. The course closes at four hours, which corresponds to an 18 minute per mile pace; participants not keeping that pace will be directed to the sidewalk and the finish line will not remain open beyond the closure time.
