Springfield Striders Friday Night 5
The event is a chip timed 5 miles held on a two lap course on quiet country lanes around the village of Pleshey near Chelmsford, Essex. The entry fee is listed as £18. The race has previously attracted about 300 runners and won the Howard Williams award for best race in Essex.
There are individual and team prizes. After the race a post race barbecue offers a free burger or a vegetarian option in exchange for the race number, and additional refreshments will be available to purchase. The event is organised and marshalled by runners and is run under UK Athletics Rules.
Entries have sold out in recent years and there are no entries on the day when sold out; a waiting list operates for transferred places. Early bird entries end at the end of April with prices increasing from 1 May. The venue is Pleshey Village Hall, Pleshey, Chelmsford, Essex, CM3 1HA. Free car parking is available on the village field behind the village hall; participants are asked not to park on the roads in Pleshey or to obstruct the church, and parking is limited.
