Springfield Striders Friday Night 5
The Springfield Striders Friday Night 5 is a 5 miles road race based at Pleshey Village Hall in Pleshey, Chelmsford, Essex. The route is a two lap course on quiet country lanes around the village of Pleshey and is chip timed.
The event typically brings together around 300 runners. Individual and team prizes are awarded. The race won the Howard Williams award for best race in Essex last year.
After the race there is a post race BBQ where runners may swap their race number for a free burger or a vegetarian option. Additional refreshments are available to purchase.
Entry details note that early bird entries end at the end of April and prices increase from 1 May. The event has sold out in recent years and there are no entries on the day; a waiting list operates once the race is sold out.
The event is organised and marshalled by runners and is run under UK Athletics Rules. Free car parking is available on the village field behind the village hall. Participants are asked not to park in the roads in Pleshey or obstruct the church and to consider car sharing because parking is limited.
