Spring Training Camp
This is a three-day trail running training camp led by The Running Kind in Oliverea, NY, set in the Catskill Mountains. The program emphasizes guided coaching in a small-group setting, on-trail practice on varied mountain terrain, and optional discussions on mental performance.
The Catskills terrain described for the camp includes technical scrambles, runnable ridge lines, and long vertical climbs. Coaches provide individual attention through on-trail sessions and one-on-one coaching discussions. The camp is intended to build trail running skills for mountainous routes and to increase familiarity with mountain trail conditions.
The schedule is organized across three days. The first day focuses on arrival, social connecting, intention setting, and an individual-led coaching session. The main training day includes a long run, post-run lunch and a cold plunge, additional individual coaching sessions, and evening dinner. The final day includes a shorter run, another individual-led coaching session, and departure.
This camp is recommended for participants who are healthy, have good fitness, and have trail experience. The organizer recommends road runners who can cover a half marathon in about two hours or trail runners with at least one year of experience. Participants must be at least 21 years old.
Distances for scheduled runs:
- Long run about 13 miles, 5000 ft elevation gain
- Shorter run about 8 miles, 3000 ft elevation gain
