Event Overview
The Spring Run is a 6-hour timed challenge event. Participants can run any distance from 5 km up to an ultra marathon within the time limit. The maximum number of entrants is 60.
Course and Distances
The course is 4.37 miles (approximately 7 km) per lap. A 5 km turn point is available.
- 10 km: 2 laps of the 5 km lap.
- Half marathon: 3 laps of the 4.37 mile course.
- Marathon: 6 laps of the course.
- Ultra marathon: 7 or more laps.
Participants can start their final lap up until 5 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds into the event. The course is predominantly on a tarmac path along an old railway line with a small trail section. It is an out-and-back route with no navigation required.
Facilities and Logistics
An aid table with water, squash, fizzy drinks, and a variety of foods like sweets, biscuits, and grapes is available at the end of each lap. Toilets are located at a local leisure facility. Parking is available in bays on Preston Road near Poorhouse Lane, a short walk from the start. Parking in local business car parks or along Poorhouse Lane is not permitted.
Rules and Registration
The event is licensed by the TRA and run under UK Athletics rules. Age-based maximum distance restrictions apply, ranging from 5,000m for ages 12-13 to no maximum for age 20 and over. The minimum age for participants is 12 years. Registration opens on the event day.
