Crikey its the Christmas Cracker Day 1
This is Day 1 of the Christmas Cracker Weekend organised by Its Grim Up North Running at the Hollybush Conservation Centre in Kirkstall, Leeds. The event is a trail running day that follows the Leeds & Liverpool Canal on mostly flat, canal-side paths with a good trail surface.
Available race distances include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 10 Miles
- Half Marathon
- 20 Miles (2 x 10 mile)
- Marathon (2 x Half Marathon)
The course is fully marshalled and signed and holds Trail Running Association licence under UKA rules. Aid stations are positioned approximately every 3 miles; the event operates a cup-less policy so runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. Finishers receive a bespoke Christmas medal and festive treats. Safety measures note that some road crossings may be unmarshalled and that over-ear headphones are not permitted; bone-conduction or one-ear earphones are acceptable. Entry management including transfers and deferrals is handled through the organiser's online system and late changes on race day may incur a small admin fee. The nearest train station is Headingley. There is no parking at the start and finish; nearby Morrisons car park is suggested and car sharing is encouraged. Most race information and community updates are shared online and via the Grim Up North Chat Facebook group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
