About the race
Splash & Dash Round 4 is an open-water swim and swim-run meeting held at Freyberg Beach on Oriental Parade, Oriental Bay, Wellington. The series runs on selected dates in the 2026/27 season, with Round 4 scheduled for 13 January 2027. The event is organised by Barefoot Events and takes place at the Freyberg Beach play area.
The event offers multiple swim-only and swim-run options. Distances available include:
- 150 m open water swim
- 400 m open water swim
- 750 m open water swim
- 1.3 km open water swim
- 2 km open water swim
- 150 m swim plus 5 km run (approx 5.15 km)
- 400 m swim plus 5 km run (approx 5.4 km)
- 730 m swim plus 5 km run (approx 5.73 km)
- 1.3 km swim plus 5 km run (approx 6.3 km)
Minimum age to take part is 13. Younger participants may be allowed if they provide either a printed result showing prior competition in a comparable open-water swim or evidence they are a regular member of an organised swimming squad via a coach-completed form.
Entry fees are tiered by age: standard price $25.00, under 20 price $20.00, under 16 price $15.00, plus a per-participant fee of $1.00 plus 6% processing. Registration closes on the event date listed by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
