Spearfish Canyon Kilo
Spearfish Canyon Kilo is a road race held on November 7, 2026, in Spearfish, South Dakota. The course begins near the historic Homestake power plant several miles up Spearfish Canyon and finishes in Spearfish; the current course follows much of the original route but the final mile uses local bike paths.
Check in is at City Park in Spearfish. Parking is limited at the start area, no shuttle is provided, and the event notes suggest carpooling from City Park.
The event has a long history. The first running took place in 1968 and it attracted more than 300 participants in some years. The race appeared in Sports Illustrated in the early 1970s. After a pause, the Black Hills Runners Club organized a revival in 2020. Historical notes record a youngest competitor age of 14 and an oldest of 44 in earlier years.
