XTERRA Deadwood Mickelson is a trail running event in Deadwood, South Dakota. The event is part of the XTERRA Trail Run World Series and lists 232 TRWC slots. The course runs through the Black Hills and passes an abandoned mining town, railroad trestles, a mountain, monolithic rock formations, and a creek before finishing in Deadwood, a historic town. Course sections are graded Easy, Intermediate, and Difficult. The marathon course is USATF certified and is a Boston Qualifier.

Aid stations appear approximately every 2 miles and provide water, Powerade, banana chunks, and pretzels; some stations offer M&Ms and there is an extra aid station at mile 25. Portable toilets are placed on the course at listed mile markers. A medical tent staffed by EMTs is located at the finish area. Packet and chip pickup is required at the expo; there is no packet pickup on race day. There is a bag drop service that transports gear from the start to the finish. There is no parking at the start lines and shuttle buses/trolleys operate to transport participants to start areas. Children under 14 may run the relay but not the full or half marathon.
