About the race
The Sparta Jockey 502er is an unsupported solo endurance run across the state of North Carolina. The event begins on May 10, 2027 in Sparta, NC and finishes at Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head no later than May 24, 2027. Participants must be fully self supported while on course and have 336 hours (14 days) to complete the route.
Racers depart from a staging area in Waco, NC where parking is provided at the residence of the race director; the site is described as secured and monitored 24/7. Racers are transported from Waco to the Sparta post office for the on-course start. The remote finish means personal vehicles will not be at the finish site; finishers are provided a hotel near Nags Head as part of the entry and will be shuttled periodically back to their vehicles.
The course route is published by the organizer online. Cutoffs apply every 37 miles beginning on May 11; a first missed cutoff elicits a warning and a second missed cutoff will result in removal for safety. The race director and team may disqualify or remove participants for littering, riding in a vehicle, criminal activity, unsafe acts, or other risks to safety.
