Sparta Jockey 502er
Sparta Jockey 502er is an unsupported solo running event that starts in Sparta, North Carolina, and finishes at Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head. The event crosses the state of North Carolina on a published route and requires racers to be self-supported; participants must manage their own logistics and supplies during the course.
Racers park in Waco, North Carolina, at the race director's residence in a secured site monitored 24/7. Organizers transport racers from the parking location to the start. The event begins on May 10, 2027, and racers have 336 hours (14 days) to complete the distance, with cutoffs every 37 miles starting on May 11; a first missed cutoff results in a warning, and a second missed cutoff leads to removal for safety.
Entries include a custom finisher award for those who complete the full route, and finishers may purchase a limited finisher hoodie available only to those who complete the entire distance. Racers who finish at Jockey's Ridge are provided a hotel near Nags Head as part of entry and are shuttled back to their cars on a regular schedule; shuttle frequency may also be provided as needed for tight travel windows. No refunds are provided after registration; entries may be sold to another runner and deferrals are considered case by case. The race team may disqualify participants for littering, riding in a vehicle during the event, criminal acts, or unsafe behavior. The course route is published online and on MapMyRun.
