Event overview
The Froggy Mountain Warrior 100 is a winter, group-run 100-mile event scheduled for February 2026 in the Galax, Virginia area. It is organized as a fundraiser for the veterans organization #22toomany and will operate as an informal, non-permitted group run. The event is primarily self-supported; organizers expect to have some aid available but advise participants to plan to be self-sufficient. Organizers have set a 40-hour soft cutoff; runners who continue past that cutoff may still receive a buckle. The entry fee includes a low-key buckle featuring the organizer’s artwork. After taxes and fees, roughly $22 per entry will be donated to #22toomany. Participants registering by Feb 1 will receive the buckle at the run; later registrants will have it mailed.
Course and logistics
The course uses the SR612 Trailhead / Foothills Road area near Galax and is a repeated 10-mile loop completed ten times to total 100 miles. The loop includes:
- 7.2 miles out-and-back on a gravel road with a 3.1 mile climb and return descent
- 1.35 miles out-and-back on a moderately technical trail
- a short road jog near the finish to complete each 10-mile lap
The full 100 miles includes approximately 15,000 feet of vertical gain. February conditions can be cold and some gravel-road sections may become slick with ice or snow. Froggy Mountain Adventures offers winter campsites with spring water and a two-bedroom air B&B; other hotels and short-term rentals are available in nearby Galax.
