Soyland Moor Fell Race
Soyland Moor is a fell race of 13.5 miles with approximately 1,300 ft of ascent around Cragg Vale. The event is based at the Hinchliffe Arms, Church Bank Lane, Cragg Vale HX7 5TA. The next scheduled race date is Sunday 8th November 2026 and entries open in Spring 2026.
The route begins with a steep tarmac climb from the pub towards the bogs of Sunderland Pasture, continues to Stoodley Pike, follows the Pennine Way across the moor, crosses the B6138 Cragg Vale road, passes Great Manshead Hill and returns toward the Hinchliffe Arms. Each checkpoint must be visited in the correct order and all participants must follow the route shown on the map; the start and finish are flagged. Entry information includes an entry fee of £15 with an additional £2 for non affiliated runners; entry on the day is £20. Minimum age for participants is 17 years. The race is held under UKA rules and licensed with the Trail Running Association and the Fell Running Association. Full FRA kit is required, including a waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof trousers, hat and gloves, a paper map with whistle and compass, a spare layer, and food and water.
