Soyland Moor Fell Race

Soyland Moor is a fell race over 13.5 miles with 1300 ft of ascent, organised from the Hinchliffe Arms in Cragg Vale (Church Bank Lane, HX7 5TA). The course begins with a steep tarmac climb from the pub, passes the bogs of Sunderland Pasture, and continues to Stoodley Pike. Runners proceed across moorland along the Pennine Way, cross the B6138 Cragg Vale Road, head toward Great Manshead Hill and return toward the Hinchliffe Arms. The start and finish are flagged.

Each checkpoint must be visited in the correct order and participants must follow the route marked on the map. Checkpoints are Stoodley Pike (GR973242), Little Dove Lowe (GR965208), B6138 Road Crossing (GR978187), Manshead Head Trig Point (GR998197), Turkey Lodge Road (GR005219) and Bridge (GR001222). Grid references for start and finish are GR998232 and GR999231.

Entry is available online or on the day. Standard entry fee is £15 with a £2 surcharge for non-affiliated runners; entry on the day costs £20. Minimum age is 17 years. The event is run under UKA rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association and the Fell Runners Association.

Full FRA kit is required. Required items include a waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof trousers, hat and gloves, a paper map plus whistle and compass, a spare layer, and food and water. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
