Southampton Running Festival
The Southampton Running Festival is held on Southampton Common with start and finish within the park. The course runs through woodland, grassland, ponds, wetlands, lakes and open parkland in the heart of the city. Southampton Common is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and provides a backdrop for running, walking and wildlife watching.
Race distances include:
- Half marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
- Junior race
Each kilometre is marked with distance flags and marshals are positioned on course to guide and encourage participants. The event includes an event village with food and drink options and complimentary items from partners available at the finish.
The event is presented in support of One Community Eastleigh. Organisers state that sustainability is a priority and that they have researched runners views on important issues. An event t-shirt is available at more than 30% off when purchased as part of entry; the shirt carries the event logo on the chest and is supplied via partner RT Kit as part of a decision to highlight product quality while reducing overall event costs for those who prefer not to include a t-shirt.
