Southampton Firecracker 8K & 3 Miler
The Southampton Firecracker is an annual road event centered at Agawam Park in Southampton, NY (25 Pond Lane). The program offers two course options: an 8 kilometer race and a 3 mile walk, with both routes starting and finishing at Agawam Park. The 8K is presented as a USATF course and a USATF route is also listed for the 3 mile walk.
Amenities for participants include light refreshments, a DRI TECH event tee for all registrants, live online/text/email results, and free finish photos and video. Finishers in the 8K receive a medal on a ribbon; top three overall men and women in the 8K earn trophies. Age-group awards for the 8K are given in the following brackets: 9 & under; 10-14; 15-19; then five-year increments from 20-24 through 75-79; and 80+. There are no awards or age groups for the 3 mile.
Packet pickup and race-day registration occur the morning of the event. Organizers note that registering at least three weeks before the race allows for a personalized race number, and that participants must know their bib number to collect packets; a self-lookup area is available. If registering within 24 hours of pickup, a registration confirmation on phone or paper is required to be assigned a bib.
