2026 Run for the Petals 5K Run/Walk
The Run for the Petals 5K Run/Walk is an annual event held in Greenport, New York. This race serves as the official kickoff for the Cherry Blossom Festival and the month-long Cherry Blossom Season. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine, and the course starts at the Greenport Fire Department.
Participants have the opportunity to take part in a 5K route through the village. The event also facilitates community engagement by encouraging attendees to explore the Cherry Blossom Map, which is available for free at local restaurants, shops, and the AgroCouncil headquarters. This map allows visitors to tour the blossoms throughout the festival period.
Registration includes several amenities for participants:

Individuals who register at least three weeks before the event will receive a personalized bib with their name on it. Race entries booked before race day also include an event shirt, which is subject to size availability. On the day of the race, results are provided via live updates, text, and email. Participants also have access to free finish line photos and video.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories ranging from 11 and under to 71 and older.
