Run for the Petals 5K Run/Walk
Run for the Petals is a community 5K run and walk held in Greenport at the Greenport Fire Department location on 3rd Street. The event is presented by AgroCouncil and serves as the kickoff for the Cherry Blossom Festival month and the Cherry Blossom walk.
The event raises funds for the AgroCouncil, the Greenport Business Improvement District and the Greenport Village Tree. A free Cherry Blossom map is distributed from AgroCouncil headquarters in the lobby of the Greenporter Hotel and at participating shops and restaurants during the blossom season. A 5K course map is provided for participants.
Event amenities include live online, text and email results, free finish line photos and race videos, and personalized bibs for registrants who meet the event's advance registration window. Bib pickup procedures require participants to know their bib numbers or use an on-site self lookup; registrants who complete registration in advance will receive their bib number by text or email.
Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall, with age group awards for top three men and women in these groups: 11 and under, 12 to 20, 21 to 30, 31 to 40, 41 to 50, 51 to 60, 61 to 70, and 71 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
