South Wales - Medal Madness
Phoenix Running South Wales stages Medal Madness on Saturday 6th February 2027 at the Rock UK Summit Centre, The Old Drift Mine, Trelewis, Merthyr Tydfil CF46 6RD. The event uses a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out-and-back lap through Parc Taf Bargoed, a Green Flag park shaped by the area's industrial past and recent redevelopment.
This is a timed multi-lap event with a seven hour time limit. Participants may complete as many laps as they wish; the minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles) or as far as they can go within seven hours. The course is multi-terrain: the majority is on tarmac paths with approximately 0.5 miles on riverside trail and an overall elevation gain of 37 m.

The event will feature a medal mix from previous events as the award for this race, and Phoenix Running provides a bespoke finishers medal. A no medal entry option is being trialled from £20; this option retains race support, aid stations, same-day results, athlete profiles, digital bibs and digital finishers certificates but does not include a physical medal. Standard entry fees are £33 for affiliated runners and £35 for unaffiliated runners.
Organisers operate a flexible "rock up and run" start format and will try to accommodate special start time requests depending on distance. A Welsh Athletics race licence has been applied for and UK Athletics distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under. Places are strictly limited.
