Course and Terrain

The course consists of looped trails on the H.W. Lewis Ranch. The terrain is described as rugged and rocky with some dirt and grass ATV trails. The route features significant elevation changes. The 50K distance involves over 2300 feet of elevation gain, with the looped course measuring 10.3 miles. The 5K follows a unique, modified route.

Event Features and Rules

This is a cupless race. Participants must bring their own bottles or cups to refill at water stations. Littering is prohibited. For the 17K RUCK division, participants must carry a weighted ruck: 30 lbs for those over 150 lbs body weight, or 20 lbs for those under 150 lbs. A ruck sack or vest is allowed.

A parking pass is required. The H.W. Lewis Ranch charges a $10 fee per participant, to be paid in cash upon entry.

What Participants Receive

All finishers receive a collectible finisher medal. Participants also get a South Texas Ultra T-shirt. 50K finishers have their distance inscribed on their medal. First-place awards are given for male and female participants in all distances. A "Dead Freakin' Last" award is given for the 50K distance. Ruck participants receive a special RUCK patch.

The event provides aid stations with food and hydration, photography, and a fully marked and supported course. The event is part of the Texas Ultra Series, where finisher medals from each series race combine to form a map of Texas.
