Course and logistics

The course uses rocky and dirt single-track trails mostly inside Garner State Park. The route shows about 1400 ft elevation gain per 6-mile loop. The 10K loop includes a climb to Old Baldy Mountain; the Baldy aid station is at mile 2.82 and is not on the 5K course. The main aid station is at the start/finish area (mile 0 and mile 6); road and crew access is available there. Drop bags may be left at the start/finish area.

A water carrying system is required for all events; carrying about 32 oz is recommended and the event is a no-cup race. Aid stations provide hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice. The 10K RUCK has a minimum pack weight requirement. Campgrounds are adjacent to the start/finish area; sites have restrooms and showers and are listed at $20–$35 per night. Awards include race shirts, finisher medals, place awards, a unique 50K finisher medal, and a 50K last-place trophy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
