Old Baldy Ultra
Old Baldy Ultra is a trail running event at Garner State Park in Concan, TX on March 6, 2027. The course uses mostly park single-track trails with rocky and dirt surfaces. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 20K
- 30K
- 50K
- 10K ruck
The terrain is hilly. Organizers note about 1400 ft of elevation gain per 6 mile loop. Course specifics list a 5K modified loop with 600 ft of gain and a 10K loop with 1500 ft of gain. The 10K loop includes an ascent and descent of Old Baldy Mountain. A 50K finisher medal description references 7000 ft total elevation gain.
Aid stations are located on course with the main aid at the start/finish (mile 0 and mile 6), which has road and crew access and accepts drop bags. The Baldy aid station at mile 2.82 is not on the 5K course, has no road access, and does not accept drop bags. Aid station offerings include hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice.
Required gear includes a hydration vest or water carrying system; 32 oz is recommended and the event is a no cup race. The 10K ruck has weight requirements based on participant weight. No pacers are allowed. Campgrounds are adjacent to the start/finish and cost $20 to $35 per night with restrooms and showers. All finishers receive a tri-blend T-shirt and finisher medal; additional awards include first place male and female, a 10K ruck patch, and a last place award for the 50K.
