Frio Trio Endurance Festival - Zero Edition (Oct 2-4, 2026)
The Frio Trio is a three-day outdoor festival in the Frio River Valley with trail running, gravel bike racing, paddling, and river floating across Leakey, Concan, and Uvalde, TX. The Zero Edition presents supported, fully marked courses, aid stations, and festival activities while some customary race elements are altered for 2026.
Distances and options
- 50K / 10 miles night trail run (50K is three laps of the 10-mile loop)
- 13.1 miles / 5K daytime trail runs; 1 mile youth run
- 60 miles / 33 miles gravel bike races
- 1 mile Frio float trip (river float lasting about 45–90 minutes)
Registration and festival format are specific to the Zero Edition: the first 200 registrations were free and the next 200 cost $25 per race registration. Registration covers Garner State Park entry and selected venue access fees but does not cover meals or lodging. Races in 2026 will not be officially timed; top three finishers per distance will be recognized, and finisher medals are not provided. A Zero Edition race shirt is available for purchase.
Course and safety details: courses will be marked and downloadable GPX tracks provided. Night runners must carry a headlamp and are required to carry a bottle or flask; cupless aid stations mean participants bring their own cup or bottle. Aid stations are placed so participants do not go more than about 3–4 miles without support. Gravel courses mix chip seal, caliche, ranch roads, and singletrack; mountain bikes are allowed and the full gravel course has an 8-hour cutoff.
