Event details

The 43rd South Shropshire Circular takes place on Saturday 28th February 2026. The event starts and finishes at Minsterley Village Hall, Station Road, Minsterley, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY5 0BE. The organiser is the LDWA - Marches Group. The event is currently full; new entries are placed on a waiting list and no payment is required while on that list.

Course, checkpoints and requirements

The route is a 25 mile circular walk with about 4675 ft of ascent. The exact route is not disclosed until the day of the event, when participants receive a route description. The course is divided into four legs with three serviced checkpoints providing refreshments. Grid references for each checkpoint are supplied and the route description indicates the recommended line between them. There is a 10 hour time limit.

Participants must be able to navigate using map and compass and should use OS Explorer sheet 216 (Welshpool and Montgomery). Dogs are not permitted. Overnight camping at the hall before or after the event is not allowed. Only people aged 18 or older may enter.

Entry, fees and equipment

Entries opened 1 November 2025 and closed 14 February 2026. Entry fees are £14 for LDWA members and £19 for non-members. Mandatory clothing and equipment include a mug, sturdy walking or fell shoes, full body and leg covering, windproof and waterproof outerwear, spare inner garment, hat and gloves, survival bag, emergency food and drink, torch, basic first aid, compass and whistle.
