South Shields Landmark Challenge
The South Shields Landmark Challenge is a fun and exciting team running event held in South Shields, combining running, navigation, and local heritage. Scheduled for late December, teams of two or more runners navigate a course with set start and finish points but flexible checkpoint order, using a map and landmark list provided a week before the event. The approximate distance is 10 miles, covering mixed terrain including roads, trails, grass, and hills, with winter weather conditions expected.
Participants must photograph their team at each landmark as proof. The event encourages all levels of runners, with prizes for top male and female teams, and a festive atmosphere including post-run refreshments and awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
