The Conservancy and Community Trust of South Gulf Cove hosts the 6th Annual South Gulf Cove CCT Furry Scurry on Saturday, February 21, 2026 in South Gulf Cove, Port Charlotte, Florida. The event is dog-friendly and offers in-person and virtual options. Distances offered include:
- 5K - Chip timed run/walk with custom chipped bib, t-shirt, and participation medal.
- 1.5 Mile Mutt Strut - Untimed dog walk includes t-shirt and participation medal.
- Virtual event - Run at your own location; finisher medal and t-shirt mailed.
The 5K awards the top three finishers in overall and age categories. Age-group awards are given for male and female participants across standard youth, adult, and senior divisions.

Proceeds are donated to local animal shelters and rescue organizations, including Englewood Animal Shelter (EARS), Suncoast Humane Society Englewood, German Shepherd Rescue in Punta Gorda, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Ruck 9, Rescue Garage, and Peace River K9 Search and Rescue. Packet pick-up is available race morning starting at 6:30am, with early packet pick-up on Friday, February 20 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at 14859 Ingraham Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33981. The event includes post-race food and beverages, plus raffles and a silent auction. Because this is a fundraiser, there are no refunds.
