6th Annual South Gulf Cove CCT Furry Scurry 5K : Port Charlotte
The Conservancy and Community Trust of South Gulf Cove organizes a dog-friendly community 5K walk/run on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Port Charlotte at 14859 Ingraham Blvd, South Gulf Cove. The event offers in-person and virtual participation options and raises funds for local animal shelters and rescues.
Distances and options:
- 5K walk/run with chip timing, custom chipped bib, t-shirt and participation medal
- 1.5-mile Mutt Strut not timed; includes race t-shirt and finisher medal
- Virtual event run at participants' own location; finisher medal and t-shirt mailed
The 5K is chip timed and awards the top three finishers in overall and age-category divisions. Award divisions include Overall, Masters (40+), Grandmasters (50+), Senior Grandmasters (60+), Veteran Grandmasters (70+), and top three male and female in multiple age groups from 9 and under through 80+. Proceeds will be donated to a list of local shelters and rescues including Englewood Animal Shelter, Suncoast Humane Society Englewood, and several regional rescues.
Additional event features include post-event food and beverages, raffles and a silent auction, and acceptance of supplies and food donations for shelters. Packet pick-up is available the morning of the race and during an early pick-up on Friday, February 20 at the event address. This fundraiser has a no-refund policy.
