About the race
The Conservancy and Community Trust of South Gulf Cove organizes the 7th Annual SGC CCT Furry Scurry on February 20, 2027, at the SGC HOA Clubhouse in Port Charlotte, Florida (14859 Ingraham Boulevard). The event offers multiple participation options for runners, walkers, and virtual participants.
Distances and formats
- 10K chip-timed run
- 5K chip-timed run and walk
- 1.5 mile Mutt Strut walk
- Virtual event option with mailed shirt and medal
Registration for the chip-timed 5K and 10K includes an official race T-shirt, a custom chip-timed bib, a participation medal, and eligibility for overall and age-group awards. Awards are presented to top male and female finishers in overall and masters categories and to the top three in standard age groups from 9 and under through 80 and older. Mutt Strut registration includes an official T-shirt and finisher medal. Virtual participants receive a T-shirt and medal by mail.
The event is a nonprofit fundraiser. Proceeds will be donated to local animal shelters and rescues, including Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary, Suncoast Humane Society of Englewood, German Shepherd Rescue in Punta Gorda, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Ruck 9, Rescue Garage, and Peace River K9 Search and Rescue. Onsite features include raffles, a silent auction, community vendors, and refreshments, with a separate staging area for Mutt Strut participants.
