South Downs 50k
The South Downs 50k is a point to point trail race of 50 km from the University of Brighton, Falmer to Helen Garden, Eastbourne, mainly following the South Downs Way. The route runs through the South Downs National Park and finishes at the cliffs of Beachy Head. The course includes over 3,500 feet of ascent and descent and is mostly runnable trail with some farm tracks and forest paths; terrain is listed as 99% trail and 1% road.
The event provides four aid stations, live GPS tracking and chip timing, first aid and medical cover, event insurance, and a free shuttle bus from the finish to local hotels and Eastbourne train station. The race awards 2 ITRA points and is listed as a UTMB Index Race. The entry price is shown as £78 and includes a mandatory GPS tracker.
Entries are on a first come, first served basis with no waitlist; entries close one week before the race or when entry limits are reached. No qualifier is required and the minimum age is 20 years. The race has an 11 hour cutoff time which also accommodates walkers. Refunds are available at 50% up to March 2, 2026, with pregnancy treated as an exception for full refund; deferral and transfer options are available subject to conditions and deadlines.
