South Downs 200 Miles

The South Downs 200 is a continuous trail event across the South Downs National Park. The course is roughly a large loop that travels east to west and back, following a variety of trails including sections of the Monarchs Way and South Downs Way. The total distance is 200 miles, with approximately 23,200 ft of ascent and descent. Terrain is mostly trail, about 95% trail and 5% tarmac.

Entrants have a 100 hour cutoff to complete the route. The event is fully supported with a marked route, 16 fully stocked aid stations and three indoor sleep stations. Crews and pacers are allowed, and the event is open to both runners and walkers. The race carries UTMB Index status and offers ITRA points.

Entry is on a first come, first served basis. There is no formal qualifying standard, but entrants are expected to have a strong background and experience in long distance running or hiking; completion of a 100 mile event will almost certainly support an application. After acceptance, entry can be completed online with the option to pay in a single payment or in three instalments.

No refunds are offered. Deferrals to the following year or transfers to another entrant are permitted up to four weeks before race day, subject to a fee and other conditions. Permits are granted through ARC and the permit number is pending. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
