Event details

The orienteering event takes place on Sunday 18 January 2026 at Pippingford Park, off the A22 south of Wych Cross (nearest postcode TN22 3HW; GPS 51.0537, 0.0492). Registration is online only in advance. Entries close on 17 January 2026. Parking charge is £3. Entry fees vary by age and booking date: seniors early £12, standard £15, late £18; juniors early £4, standard £5, late £6. Seniors on Yellow and Orange courses pay £8 at all dates. Juniors are defined as under 21 on 31 December 2026. There is an additional charge for competitors who are not members of British Orienteering: £2 for seniors, £1 for juniors.

Electronic punching will be used, with contactless SIAC supported. SI card hire is available: standard £1, SIAC £2.50. Control descriptions will be printed on the map; loose descriptions will be available in the start lanes. There is no provision for food or drinks at the event. A QR code link to live results will be provided on maps.

Courses and distances

  • White - 2.0 km: controls on or adjacent to paths, suitable for young children.
  • Yellow - 2.5 km: very easy controls, mostly on paths.
  • Orange - 3.0 km: controls on or near paths with some route choice.
  • Light Green - 3.5 km: controls away from paths requiring good navigation.
  • Very Short Green - 3.0 km (entry limit 5).
  • Short Green - 3.5 km (entry limit 21).
  • Green - 4.5 km (entry limit 43).
  • Short Blue - 5.5 km (entry limit 36).
  • Blue - 6.5 km (entry limit 44).
  • Short Brown - 8.0 km (entry limit 19).
  • Brown - 9.5 km (entry limit 9).
  • Black - 11.0 km (entry limit 23).

Course lengths are straight-line estimates; actual distance covered will be greater. Some advanced courses have controls well away from paths and are intended for experienced orienteers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
