Course and logistics
The route forms a large loop around the South of England and follows five named trails in sequence: North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way, returning to the North Downs Way to finish at Juniper Hall. Key route sections given in the event details include 18 miles east on the North Downs Way to Botley Hill, 45 miles south on the Vanguard Way to Alfriston (mile 91), almost 80 miles west on the South Downs Way to Exton, about 32 miles on the Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way to Farnham, and the final 25 miles back to Juniper Hall. The course is not continuously marked; GPX files are supplied.
There are 3 major aid stations and 1 safety point. The three aid stations provide hot food, sleeping facilities and access to one drop bag per runner; crews are not permitted inside aid stations. Stop limits apply at checkpoints (for example 3 hours at CP1, 6 hours at CP2 and CP3, 60 minutes at CP4). Pacers are not permitted. A detailed mandatory kit list and drop bag rules (max 20 kg, 120 litres; sleeping bag, sleeping pad and towel required in drop bag) are specified.
