About the race
The Winter Downs 200 is a continuous 200 mile (321 km) trail run held in the South East of England with a 96 hour overall cut-off. The looped route starts and finishes at Juniper Hall, Dorking, and follows established long-distance trails in sequence: the North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way. Total ascent is listed as 22,500 ft (about 6,800 m). Terrain is a mix of road and trail, approximately 20% road and 80% trail.
The event limits entries to 100 starters and carries an entry fee of £600. Applications for the 2026 field open on 21 December 2025 and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis subject to acceptance by race management. Applicants must submit previous running or multi-sport experience; completion of a single stage trail 100 mile event or equivalent self-powered winter or mountain journeys is given as a typical qualification reference. There is no waiting list.
There are three major aid stations with hot food, sleeping facilities and drop bag access, and one safety point offering hot drinks and limited food. Crews are permitted at designated points but not inside the aid stations. Pacers are not permitted. The course is not marked for the event as a whole and runners must use GPX navigation.
