Event overview
The Winter Downs 200 is a continuous trail run held 10-14 December 2025 with the race headquarters at Juniper Hall, Old London Road, Dorking (RH5 6DA). The course distance is 200 mi (321 km), with total ascent listed as 22,500 ft (6,800 m). The overall time limit is 96 hours. The event is limited to 100 starters, has a minimum age of 20, and an entry fee of £600. Medical support is provided throughout the race week and race week medics and ambulances are listed as available.
Route and logistics
The route is a giant loop around the south of England using five way-marked trails in sequence: North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way, returning to the North Downs Way to finish. Key route segments include 18 miles east on the North Downs Way to Botley Hill, 45 miles south on the Vanguard Way to Alfriston (about mile 91), almost 80 miles west on the South Downs Way to Exton, 32 miles north-east on Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way to Farnham, then 25 miles back to Juniper Hall. The course is not marked for the event itself; downloadable GPX files and live tracking are provided.
There are three major aid stations with hot food, sleeping facilities and access to one drop bag per runner, plus one safety point with hot water and shelter. Crews are permitted only at specified locations and pacers are not allowed. A mandatory kit list applies, with a kit check and a one hour penalty for missing items.
