The course follows single-track trails and a loop that is commonly described as about five miles, with additional bonus mileage on some sections. The start line is located in the middle of the park; participants should allow about a 30 minute walk from the main parking area to reach the start, following marked flags to the start line and the race route.
Logistics include packet pickup the evening before at the Ornery Mule Trailhead and additional pickup on race morning at Veteran Acres. Park in the main lot at 431 Walkup Rd, Crystal Lake, IL 60012. The race is cup-less; participants are advised to carry a water bottle or hydration vest. There is a 3 hour 30 minute time cutoff.
Registration closes on October 14 at 11:59 PM CT. The event has a rollover and credit policy for deferrals: rollover is allowed if requested at least 70 days before the event, and a 50 percent race credit is available if requested at least 25 days before the event; changes are handled through the event registration system.
