SOS Triathlon in New Paltz, NY
The SOS Triathlon takes place at the Ulster County Fairgrounds, 2.5 miles south of the village of New Paltz on County Road 7. The course combines a road bike segment, multiple open water swims, and several trail runs through local terrain.
The full course includes a 30 mile bike and nearly 20 miles of trail running, with about 2 miles of open water swimming split across three swim segments. The race is organized as a sequence of alternating bike, swim, and run sections that together form the SOS course.
Entrants are required to have completed either a Half distance (70.3) within 7 hours or a Full distance (140.6) within 15 hours in the 18 months before race day. The event has strict cutoff times at points along the course. The organizer maintains a no deferral, no rollover, no refund policy and recommends that athletes consider race insurance.
The edition described marks the 41st anniversary of the SOS Triathlon and follows the same multi segment format used in prior years.
