Sorta Mountain Stage Race
The Sorta Mountain Stage Race is a trail running event scheduled for Sept 13, 2026. It is a fundraiser for the Suicide Awareness Mission and directs all proceeds to the SAM foundation, which awards local scholarships each year.

- 50K (complete the 18 mile plus the Half Marathon)
Course and event details: The races use sections of the Knobstone Trail. The Half Marathon is an out-and-back on the Knobstone Trail with the turnaround at the summit of Round Top Knob. The 5 mile course is also on the Knobstone Trail with a turnaround at the first aid station near mile marker 2.5. The 18 mile course is an out-and-back that includes Jackson Trailhead and is described as somewhat tougher than in previous years. The 50K is offered by combining the 18 mile and the Half Marathon.
The Knobstone Trail is single track with rocks, roots and significant hills, and is noted as comparable to the Appalachian Trail. The event is presented as a local race for Louisville and adjacent counties. Overall awards and bonus prizes are planned, and food is provided for participants, family and volunteers.
