Event Overview

The Sorcerer's Sprint Mile is a themed running event held in Jonesborough, Tennessee. The event serves as a celebration for the shared birthdays of Harry Potter and author J.K. Rowling. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes, including glasses, wands, and other apparel related to the theme. The race takes place near the International Storytelling Center on Main Street.

Race Options

Participants can choose between two primary events:

  • Sorcerer's Sprint Mile: A 1 mile in-person road race through Jonesborough.
  • Virtual Mile: A 1 mile distance that can be completed remotely.

Participation Guidelines

The event is open to runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes. The course follows a designated route, and participants must wear their official race bib at all times to be timed. Double-strollers are allowed but must remain at the back of the starting group for safety. Leashed, socialized dogs are permitted to join their owners. While headphones are allowed, participants are expected to remain alert to traffic and course directions at intersections.

Timing and Logistics

The race is timed by We Run Events using B-tags attached to the back of the bibs. Results are accessible immediately after the race through onsite kiosks or QR codes. Packet pickup and late registration are available on the day of the event at the International Storytelling Center. Bicycles, skateboards, and rollerblades are not permitted on the course.
