Sombrero Ultra Running Festival (SURF)
The Sombrero Ultra Running Festival (SURF) is a multi-day endurance event held at the Clay County Regional Sports Complex in Middleburg, Florida. The event provides participants with a long-duration window to reach personal mileage goals or complete specific distance milestones. The venue features a runner's village designated for canopies, tents, and crews, and participants have the option to crew from their vehicles.
The festival offers a wide variety of timed events for individual runners and relay teams:
- 3 hour individual race
- 6 hour individual race
- 12 hour day or night individual sessions
- 24 hour individual race
- 24 hour relay
- 48 hour individual race
- 48 hour relay
The event is conducted on a loop course, and the venue includes a start-finish area that runners pass twice per loop. A single aid station provides hydration and food, including items such as electrolytes, water, fruit, and hot meals like burritos, quesadillas, and burgers. This is a cupless event, requiring participants to bring their own hydration vessels.
On-site amenities include medical personnel, physical therapy support, and specialized foot care services. RV parking is available for a fee, though no hookups are provided. Participants in the 24 hour and 48 hour categories are permitted to have pacers after completing the first 12 hours of their race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
