Sombrero Ultra Running Festival (SURF)
Sombrero Ultra Running Festival is a multi day ultrarunning event held at the Clay County Regional Sports Complex in Middleburg, Florida. The event is presented as the second annual SURF and includes vendors, themed giveaways for Valentine and Presidents Day, and on site food service.
Available race distances and formats include:
- 3 hour events including a separate Sunday session
- 6 hour event
- 12 hour day event
- 12 hour night event
- 24 hour event
- 48 hour event
- 48 hour relays for 2, 3 and 4 person teams
The course uses a shorter loop with a single aid station located at the start/finish area that participants pass twice each loop. This is a cupless race; runners must carry their own bottle, hydration vest or collapsible cup. Aid station offerings include water, Skratch electrolytes, pickle juice, Coke, ginger ale and a range of food items such as fruit, candy, bacon, egg and chorizo burritos, quesadillas, potatoes, broth, ramen, burgers, hot dogs and brats. A hot food grilling area will operate on a regular schedule.
Race services include on site medical personnel for the full 48 hour period and planned footcare support from an experienced ultramarathon practitioner. Pacers are permitted only for 24 and 48 hour competitors after the first 12 hours and must register with race staff. A runner village is provided for tents and crews; RV parking is available without hookups and an on site fee applies. Custom technical shirts are offered and to guarantee a shirt registration deadline applies. There are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
