Solstice Festival : 18th Annual Solstice 10k & 5k
The Solstice Festival includes running events on the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and benefits the Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council (CVRTC), a volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit that owns and maintains the trail.
The event program lists these distances:
- 10 km chip-timed run on the rail trail
- 5 km chip-timed run on the rail trail
- 1 mile kids run on the rail trail
Both the 5k and 10k are chip timed. Course maps are provided for each route. Awards are given for the first three overall male and female finishers, the first masters male and female, and the top two finishers in age groups: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over.
Shirt options and deadlines are specified: entries registered by June 6 are guaranteed a shirt or a tech shirt upgrade, with a Keystone Trees Not Tees option that donates to the Keystone Tree Fund instead of providing a shirt. Shirts may be available for purchase for the 1 mile; extra cotton shirts are first come, first served after the cutoff.
Online registration opens on Sunday, November 1. Race day registration and bib pickup take place at the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail; registration closes 15 minutes before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
