Shippensburg Turkey Trot 5K
The Shippensburg Turkey Trot is a festival event held on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at Shippensburg Memorial Park in Shippensburg, PA. The event benefits the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail and Shippensburg Produce Outreach and is hosted by the Cumberland Valley Rails to Trails Council.
Event formats include:
- 5K chip timed run on a road course
- Walk timed event on the same road course
The 5K awards include first three overall male and female, first masters male and female, and first in each age group. Age groups are 9 and under, 10 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over.
Online registration opens August 1 at 12:00 AM and is limited to 1000 participants. Race day registration and bib pickup occur at the pavilion behind the stadium in Shippensburg Memorial Park. Registration closes 15 minutes before the event starts. Race t shirts are available for an additional $10 and the last day to guarantee a t shirt is October 31. Timber Hill Timing handles timing and maintains a refund policy.
The host organization, CVRTC, is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) focused on conservation and multi use trails. The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail currently runs about 13 miles from Shippensburg toward Newville and work continues on extensions. Shippensburg Produce Outreach is a 501(c)(3) that serves over 1500 families per month through a drive in distribution program and partnerships with local agencies and farms.
