This event is a 6.6K run along the rural stretch of Route 66 that leads to the Our Lady of the Highway Shrine in Raymond, Illinois (18748 State Route 4, Raymond, IL 62560). The course follows countryside roads and approaches a roadside sanctuary that serves as a quiet place for reflection.
The stop is intended to provide a quieter, more personal moment in the series. The setting combines open sky and rural landscape with a small shrine that has offered comfort to travelers for generations. The series supports people living with ALS and highlights community compassion.
At each stop participants take part in a shared 2.1 mile Sidekick segment with the lead runner who is traversing the Illinois stretch of Route 66 solo to honor those living with ALS. The event includes a custom Stop 15 bib, a Waggoner Route 66 charm added to the official series medal, post run refreshments, and opportunities for community connection.
