The Solidarity Sidekick series visits Staunton for its 17th stop, centering on the historic Henry’s Rabbit Ranch. This location features a vintage gas station façade, a collection of Volkswagen Rabbits, and live rabbits, serving as a notable landmark along the Illinois stretch of Route 66.
The event is part of a larger mission to support ALS awareness. Participants join a solo runner traversing the state to honor individuals living with the condition. The course covers a distance of 6.6 km, a length chosen to symbolize the journey along the Mother Road. A key feature of the event is the 2.1-mile shared "Sidekick" segment, where participants run together in a show of symbolic support.
